Time now for some seriously stick-to-the-ribs roller derby as the semi-final round begins. The four teams in the semi's have all qualified for
a trip to the national championship tournament, the Northwest Knockdown, Nov. 14-16 in Portland, Oregon.
What remains at stake, other than bragging rights, is the seeding at the Northwest Knockdown. The winner of this regional tournament, the Best in
the West will be seeded W1. This is important because the W1 team begins play in Portland against the fourth seeded Eastern team. W2 plays E3,
W3 plays E2 and W4 plays E1.
The winner of this bout goes on to the championship boutto meet the winner of the second semi-final and will be seeded either 1 or 2 depending
on the outcome of the final. The looser of this bout will play the looser of the second semi-final to determine third and fourth seed.
So here we are, sitting down to a big, thick, juicy slab of Bay Area Derby Girls (San Francisco Bay, California) vs. Duke City Derby
(Albuqureque, New Mexico) at the first semi-final bout of the
Women's Flat Track Derby Assosciation 2008 Western Regional tournament, the Battle Royale,
hosted by Houston Roller Derby. Doesn't that sizzle sound delicious?
