Atomic City vs. The Trampires might sound like the long-awaited sequel to the Ed Wood cult classic film Plan Nine from Outer Space but actually it is the billing for the first bout of the first season for the Atomic City Rollergirls of the Tri-Cities area ( Richland , Pasco, Kinniwick) of Washington. The name, Atomic City, comes from the nearby Hanford Nuclear Reservation where the Manhattan Project was carried out. The Trampires are undefeated ever and are back-to-back champions of the Dockyard Derby Dames. Their insatiable blood lust has brought them east of the Cascades to the home of the glow-in-the-dark girls from the Hanford area thirsting for some green blood, but the radioactive mutants are threatening a nuclear response.

August 30, 2008 - The Calgary Tattoo and Arts Festival sponsors roller derby at no additional charge to festival attendees. This year the competitors in the Ink Cup were the visitors, Terminal City All Stars from Terminal City Roller Girls in Vancouver, British Columbia and Calgary Roller Derby Association's Hellion Rebellion. Both teams in this bout will visit Tacoma, Washington on Sept. 27, 2008 to bout with teams from Dockyard Derby Dames. More information is available at the Dockyard web site.

It is a close, hard fought bout filled with excellent skating, thrills and a little controversy. At the end, the point spread can be counted on the fingers of one hand.

Jet City Rollergirls of Everett, Washington held their first bout of their first season of competition on January 19, 2008 at the Seaview Gymnasium of Edmonds Community College in Lynnwood, Washington.
In one of two bouts of the evening, CarnEvil met the Hula Honeys. There is a lesson for everyone somewhere in this bout. If Jet City can provide such an interesting and entertaining bout as their very first one, they have a bright future.
